Review: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

I bought this foundation after reading recommendations from my current foundation review (MAC Studio Sculpt) that this would be a good foundation for my dry skin. I did loads of research beforehand and convinced myself that it was definately worth the £29.50 so went ahead and bought it from ASOS. I'm an NW15 usually and decided to buy it in Month Blanc which was the perfect colour for my skin (it's lighter than NW15 but I find that to be a little too dark/yellow for my skin, whereas this was more pink which I loved - it matched perfectly).

It's a sheer-medium coverage foundation which I honestly wasnt too bothered about since I have pretty decent skin anyway and I found that it covered my skin pretty decently. I would say that it verges more on the medium coverage than sheer and I found that it was buildable to a certain extent.

It's also a satin/dewy finish foundation which was what I was after since my skin is dry so I wanted to give it that glowing look. It applied really dewy to start off with but then after a couple minutes, it did matt down quite a lot which I was quite dissapointed about since it is called 'Sheer Glow'. I found that it had average staying power, probably around 6 hours (I touch my face quite a lot) but around then it could probably do with a couple touch ups.

I bought this because it is supposed to be really good for normal-dry skin, but I unfortunately had to send it back because it actually really accentuated the dry patches on my skin, particularly on my forehead and around/on my nose. I wrote that the Studio Sculpt did this too, but after using Sheer Glow I realised that it actually wasn't so bad as I thought. I honestly wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin at all, unless your skin is really good. It also streaked quite a lot when I applied it with a foundation brush and a stippling brush. I tried applying it with my fingers too as it recommends but I found this to be even worse.

I also didn't like (like pretty much everyone else) that it doesn't have a pump unless you buy one for it (which you then can't use the lid with). I always ended up pouring too much foundation out on my hand and had to mess around trying to get it back in the top. Other than that I love the packaging. I really wanted to love this foundation but it really just did not suit my dry skin at all. Let me know if you've got/tried this foundation before. How did you get on with it?

March Favourites

So it's that time again! It feels like only last week that I was writing this post up for February. Time just seems to be going so much faster lately for some reason. Before we know it, it'll be Christmas haha! So my love for corals and pale pinks has really come out this month. I just can't get enough of those colours for some reason. Oh and mustard! What have styles and colours have you been loving lately?

Pastels and Polka Dots

I know I keep talking about it but this weather is just so perfect! It honestly feels like summer right now (apart from the really cold nights which is just even better haha). I really love this skirt and I never really had any idea how to style it apart from the way that I did when I first wore it. After browsing my wardrobe for what seemed like forever, I finally decided on this combo! Then later during the day, I saw Bonnie's post with a pretty similar outfit (though she has the most amazing blouse!). What do you think? How would you style this skirt up? I've also decided that I really need to invest in some more sandals/shoes for the summer. I literally have my black ones that I wear in every post, then every summer I just wear these sandals all the time haha! I'm terrible for shoes. I have like 5 pairs and thats pushing it!

Things That Make Me Smile: Spring Inspiration

If I have any of these wrong, please let me know and I will correct it since I couldn't find most of the original links :(

Even though we've been experiencing some crazy summer weather here lately, I've been really inspired by everything spring like. I just love blossom - we don't have many tree's near where I live that actually blossom so I've never been able to do a post with them but I can just live vicariously through everyone else haha! I just love spring colours (especially pastels). No matter what anyone says, spring is definately a time for floral prints to me (even more so than usual) hehe! Hope you enjoy too!

The Memorial Garden

Shane and I took the chance to go to our local 'theme park' (you can barely call it that to be honest hah) for a little walk around the gardens and the park area yesterday evening since the weather has just been so amazing this week (bare legs in March?!). That and the fact that daylight savings is the best thing ever and it doesn't get dark till around 7:45 now! As soon as I saw this location, I just knew it was perfect with the pretty yellow and blue pansys to match my skirt haha! I've had this skirt for a while now, but bright yellow in winter is a bit daunting so I jumped at the chance to style it up yesterday. I just love yellow and blue together so I'm in love with this outfit right now! :) Hope everyone's having a great week so far!

Photo Diary: Week 19

Cinema ticket for The Hunger Games // Cinema Jelly Cherries (the best) // My Gran's Bedroom // My Gran's amazing quilt (from Next) // Clock for the house // First 'New Home' card from Mum & Dad // Our Fireplace // Amazing vase that was left by the old tennants // Decorating // Trying this elderflower cordial

This week has been a week of decorating so I haven't really done anything too interesting haha! Luckily it's our extension that we're moving too so we don't have to rush to get everything decorated since we want to decorate before we move in so we're just taking it slow (maybe a bit too slow - we've had the keys since last sunday and we still havent finished painting the bedroom yet, or any other room either haha). We went to see The Hunger Games on Thursday too, which was amazing, though I hyped it up for myself way too much so I was a little dissapointed. Shane actually didn't like it (he loved the books) and almost fell asleep haha! What have you guys been up to? If you've done your own post like this let me know so I can check it out. I love seeing what everyone else gets up to! :)

Florals for Spring

I wore this last night to go see The Hunger Games (which was really good, even if I did hype it up for myself too much). I bought the top the other day when I went shopping with mum. I popped into Primark to look at their jewellery and see if they had a mustard cardigan (why does nowhere have any?!) and saw this top. Mum was disgusted by it but when I put it on yesterday morning, she actually liked it :). I just wish it was a little longer since it kept popping out of my skirt haha! But for £5 you can't really go wrong!

Hello, Spring!

I am so excited that it is oficially spring. Although spring isn't one of my favourite seasons, I do love seeing all the flowers start to blossom and the little buds starting to show up on trees. If there's one thing that I don't like about winter, its the bare trees haha! But anyway, since the weather has been so nice, I decided to try put some more colour into my outfits. I bought this skirt last week from Ella's blog sale and I am in love! It's actually a lot longer than this (I folded it over at the top) but I bought it with the intention of shortening it anyway. I quite like it styled as a dress too so I'm just going to keep it at the longer length and fold it over whenever I want it as a skirt! I'm so excited to style it up as a dress soon.

Photo Diary: Week 18

Reading // The final Hunger Games book // Pretty hair bow // Sparkly glitter nails // Liz Earle Cleanser and Toner // Home Decor inspiration magazines // Avocado & Cottage Cheese - my favourite lunchtime snack // Hot Cross Bun // Pretty Dining Room // This ikea display needs to be my home!

So I didn't really get up to much this week. I should probably have started sorting through stuff to move next door but I'm just such a lazy person it's unbelieveable so that never happened haha! Shane and I went to IKEA again on friday night and bought a few more things so we're starting to get a collection going haha! We got the keys tonight and started cleaning the kitchen up and tomorrow, we start on the decorating. I actually had a little cry when we first moved over since I'm not one for change - especially big changes like this. I've lived here for my whole life so moving (even if it is next door in our 'granny flat') is a big change for me haha! I'm attached to my bedroom so it's hard haha! But I am excited for it - I just need to get over the initial shock first though :) Hope everyone had a good week!

Spring Glow

So we took these photos on Sunday after I got home from work - I tell you, we've been on a roll with taking outfit photos lately and I've already got an outfit post ready to go up next Tuesday haha. I think the warm, spring weather is really helping too, so hopefully it stays like this for a while. I bought this skirt a few weeks ago thinking of so many ways to style it, but now that I've got it, it seems a lot harder for some reason - especially in the cardigan department haha! Oh and I seriously love the way these photos turned out :). Hope everyone's having a good week so far!

Wish List: Spring 2012

I think this has got to be one of my favourite wish lists yet. Apparently, I'm really loving peach colours lately which is strange because I never used to like them, especially since my skin is quite pink toned already which doesn't help, but my collection of peach/light pink clothing has been growing recently. I'm starting to get so excited about spring now and I'm feeling a little bit more inspired now :). What have you been loving lately?

Black and Blue

I really feel like I haven't done an outfit post in ages. For some reason, I've been feeling a little uninspired by my wardrobe lately and feel like I've already worn pretty much everything in there. I'm hoping that when we move next door this weekend that once I've got my new wardrobe set up I'll be a little more excited and inspired to take more pictures. Anyway, I just kind of threw this outfit together yesterday to go grocery and washing machine shopping so it's nothing special really. I think I'm going to have to say bye to these Minnetonka's soon unfortunately. Because of the material they're made from they just stretch constantly and after a year and half, they've got to the point where they're literally slipping off my feet as I'm walking. But I'll definately have to save up to buy another pair since I love them so much haha! :)
